this moment was priceless ... for christmas I bought emilee a keepsake book to keep all of her tickets stubs from the concerts that she has gone to. Before I gave it to her I found all of her old ticket stubs and put them into the book for her. Once she unwrapped the album she was flipping thru the book and reminiscing about all the concerts she had gone to, when she turned the last page she paused for a moment as she looked at the tickets ... then she figured out they were not for a concert she had already been to but for the Stereo/Hedley Concert coming up in March that she has been begging to go to for the last 3 months. Her exact words were "SHIT, OMG, ahhhhhhh....!" it was a moment that all parents love to see after they have spent months searching for that perfect present for their child!

christmas in Calgary
this year Deanne and I were both able to make it down to Calgary after Christmas. We spent the real Christmas here in Sherwood Park with Ron's Mom and his sister Judy, then the following Wednesday me and the kids (Ron had to work) drove down to Calgary to spend Christmas and New Years with the Calgary Crew!
we had a really good visit. didn't do much, just relaxed and visited with everyone. Wednesday night we did our 'traditional' christmas ornament exchange (always so much fun). On thursday Deanne and I wasted almost the entire day searching for a Source store that had a Sony iPod docking station on sale for a really good price - we finally found them downtown at Banker's Hall on Saturday morning before heading home (it was worth it in the end, as they work very well!). New Years was fun - Sylvia, Doug and Tess came over and we spent the night playing games and drinking martinis!

2009 in review
Wow it seems like forever since the last time I posted anything here, it has been so long that I had to look up my access password!
2009 was a great year, alot of wonderful memories! I actually found the time to do some scrapbooking today so I did a quick layout of our favourite 2009 memories.

Langano Skies
so last night was Clothing Club night and we decided to try something totally new and different for a change, we out for supper to an Ethiopian Restaurant on Whyte Ave. It was quite the experience!
We had no idea what to order so we started out with an appetizer, then each of us picked a dish we thought sounded good and ended up with 2 chicken, 2 beef and 2 vegetarian dishes.
our appetizer was very similar to a samosa, it was filled with beef and onions and served with a hot sauce.
all the dishes we ordered came together all on one big plate. i guess Ethiopians do not use utensils when they eat so they serve 'bread' to scoop your food up with.
the bread was very close to a crepe but had more of a rubber consistency to it. it held together very well and absorbed a lot of the liquid in the dishes. as well it had a strong vinegar taste to it, so was not very tasty to eat by itself - but very good with the other dishes
it was quite the challenge at first, but we got the hang of 'scooping' after awhile!!!
i definitely want to take Ron and the kids back so they can try it as well!

happy birthday emilee ...
last saturday emilee turned 14 years old. to celebrate her birthday she invited 6 of her closest friends over for a sleepover.
she had told me the week before that one of the things she really wanted for her birthday was a cool cake, something spectacular! it took me awhile but I came up with this ...
the Jonas ornament on top of the cake sings when you press a button, and the photos around the side of the cake are members of the band 'Stereos' (her latest obsession). she was quite impressed!
we found out that night that when emilee's friends had asked her what she wanted for her birthday her reply was "I want something creative, and it better be good!" no pressure there!!
one of her best friends that she has had since grade one gave her this card, inside was four pages of memories of their friendship over the last 9 years, she did an incredible job on it.
she also made this frame with a photo of them all dolled up in her mom's makeup when they were in grade 2!!!

as well she made a mix and match the face/body/legs game of all of emilee's favorite guy celebrities.
her other best friend custom made these sweats for her, they have JONAS done the back leg.
We were really impressed with what her friends came up with, it was nice to see gifts that came from the heart and were homemade!
well it isn't homemade, but this is what she wanted for her birthday from us ...
they had alot of fun playing it that night, i was up till 2 am and they were still going strong when I went to bed.
I came down saturday morning to check on them and all I saw was one big mass of pillows and blankets, I couldn't tell who was who!

my birthday party on Saturday night
I know that it has been awhile since my birthday ... I am really behind in keeping up with my Blog. We are in the process of creating a new website/blog for Limelight Images so that has been taking up ALOT of my time...
so on Saturday night we invited a few friends over for the evening for some food and drinks...
(mmmm .... turtle cheescake!)
Ron spent most of the day cleaning the house and cooking a spectacular feast .... he is such a good cook ... the food was really delicious!
It was a GREAT birthday weekend, I definitely felt spoiled.
Thanks again Ron, you made my 40th birthday very memorable!
